The Strand Yangon

Yangon

Myanmar

“The finest hostelry East of Suez” wrote British author John Murray in his 1911 Handbook for Travellers in India, Burma and Ceylon about The Strand, still Yangon’s peerless luxury hotel more than one hundred years later. Built in 1901 and acquired soon after by the Sarkies Brothers of Raffles Hotel Singapore fame, The Strand remains one of the Far East’s most enduring and awe-inspiring colonial landmarks.

An iconic landmark of Yangon for over a century, The Strand has been restored to its rightful place as The Grand Dame of Yangon, following an extensive renovation project ending November 2016, which has maintained the architectural features, ever-mindful of its heritage. Having played host to famous explorers and raconteurs alike since 1901, The Strand’s 32 suites with their teak flooring and high ceilings have been elegantly ushered into the 21st century with vintage inspired textiles, original artwork, calming neutral hues, modern technology and state-of-the-art communication systems.

Past meets present as guests relax in understated luxury, attended to by butlers, offering exceptional service and attention to detail throughout.
